Lire l'articleIt is hot all year round here. Average temperatures are around 30 °. The ocean is very pleasant with water at 28 °. The rainy months are August and September. Well, personally, I mostly had the sun and the deluge on certain nights. Yes!
San Cristobal - Puerto Escondido, 13h by night bus with the OCC company for 545 pesos (22 euros). Quiet trip! Bus full but I was lucky because my neighbor was very discreet and only made part of the trip. So I was able to spread out a little more. As on the way there, we stop at Tuxtla Gutiérrez to clean the bus, the whole finalized by the sprinkling of this famous product which kills everything, even us. 😂Rebelote for this white smoke that invades the bus; that we see leaving through the only window, that of the driver. Dumbfounded, as always, I tell myself that the Covid will never have time to kill me; their product will have taken care of it before mouahaha. A short reflection that comforts me in the idea that it is in my interest to take advantage of it because it may not last.😁
Puerto Escondido, located on the Pacific, is a seaside resort in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Today lively, this small town has retained its charm of a fishing village and its relaxed atmosphere. Here you will find ideal and famous beaches for surfing, the most famous of which is Playa Zicatela with its mexican waves PipelinePuerto Escondido is beach-break world famous. A beach break is a beach where the waves sweep and break on a sandy bottom, often close to the edge. In view of the power of the waves, this surf spot is very dangerous for the uninitiated.
When I arrive in this city, I am initially very surprised because many wear masks in the street. I learn that half of the beaches are closed for reasons of covid. I'm looking for the logic in there because obviously the 1st half will join the 2nd one on the beaches that have remained open. But hey, no big deal, half will be enough, we will stay half the time. 😁The advantage is that I can migrate with the wind, nothing is holding me back.
With Stephanie, Niels and David, we will enjoy the beaches for a few days with cocktails and dj. We must not lie to each other, there is worse.
Price100 pesos / pers (4 euros)
The people of Puerto Escondido and its region are very committed to the protection of marine turtles, an endangered species. The association ViveMar takes care of the protection of the marine littoral but also of the laying of sea turtles. During the nesting period, the volunteers collect the eggs and shelter them from predators (mainly birds and crabs). To keep the association alive, they offer tourists the opportunity to take part in the babies' first steps by releasing them 1 hour after hatching.
Let's go, here I am with my baby turtle in a coconut (so as not to touch it) that I then released on the beach. I then watched, all moved, her first steps to the sea. I can tell you that she went ball in head, a real champion. My Sweetie Pie succeeded. A magical moment !
Our little group is in a bar on the beach sipping cocktails when we meet SilvioLover of diving and fishing, he invite us to take a boat trip at dawn. 2000 pesos or 500 each for 6 hours, clearly we are excited.
7 am, off we go. We were supposed to see lots of dolphins, we will only see one. On the other hand, big surprise on the turtle side. It is the breeding season, the ocean was filled with turtles mating. For coitus, they rise to the surface. Suddenly, you attend everything. I can tell you that the jokes have been flowing between us. Niels and Stéphanie will jump into the water with Gopro in hand to film the scene: it's a gift. Thanks to them.
I booked in this hostel with Booking for $ 27 / night. Some establishments charge in US dollars in Mexico. For this price, I have a bedroom with a sitting area, a king size bed, a private bathroom and a terrace with a hammock. As I reserve everything at the last minute, I often take what is left. Clearly, I'm not going to complain. It's great !
This hostel is very nice because the different common areas (bar, swimming pool, billiards, hammocks), very comfortable, encourage meetings, discussion, good understanding! I had a really great time here. Guaranteed atmosphere.
Only downside: the bar plays loud music until midnight.
Gourmet Mexican restaurant with modern cuisine. Very good value for money. Superb view from their roof top. Pure happiness!
Gourmet Mexican restaurant with an incredible view of Carrizalillo beach. Fresh and high quality, but a bit expensive considering the quantity on the plate. They are easily forgiven with such a sight.
Lying on Carrizalillo beach, I see an elderly couple, heads up, taking pictures. Hmmm! What's going on ? To my question, they show me our friend. In fact, this lovely couple was quietly lounging on their towel when suddenly pieces of bark started falling on them on a regular basis. Intrigued, they looked for who could disturb their peace of mind. Well it was none other than our dear friend Scratt eating his fruit. Do we agree that he looks like Scratt (the Ice Age)?
When I got off the bus while it was being cleaned, I quickly got in touch with a young German, on vacation for a month in Mexico. We go back up, the bus resumes its course, we lose sight of each other. Arrive at my hostel in Puerto Escondido, who is there waiting at reception? Well Stéphanie. Too happy to see each other again, we resume our discussion. Smiling, sensitive and positive, this young 32-year-old woman takes advantage of traveling at the slightest opportunity and often alone. She's already had roamed about. She leaves to join a friend David, for breakfast. He has lived in Peru for several years but is around for a few days. She suggests that I join them. With pleasure of course! David is a real character, an atypical personality as I like them. Keen on reading of all kinds, he builds water inlets in remote areas. With a humor and a personal reflection that are second to none, we will not be bored for 2 minutes with him.
Unconvinced by the atmosphere of Puerto Escondido, which remains pleasant but not exceptionnal, we decide Neils, Stephanie and I to move to Mazunte. Rumors praise a slightly more festive atmosphere there. David returned to Peru.
Next destination: Mazunte. 1h30 in collectivo for 50 pesos (2 euros).
